Blogs / 10,000 forum posts!

Posted on Thursday June 15th 2006 @ 18:11 in Rob’s blog

Although I know the Tactical Trader forums are not the most active trading forums in the world, it gives me a great sense of satisfaction to announce that less than one year since our re-launch, we’ve already hit the 10,000 forum posts milestone.

Even better news is that since last September we’ve actually recorded a 57% increase in the rate that posts are made to the forums! On the old site we didn’t have the luxury of 27 articles, 78 blog posts or 8 reviews for visitors to enjoy, we only had the forums, which makes this increase even more impressive.

Knowing how you traders like to analyse things I’ve put together some statistics for your enjoyment:

Posting frequency

The first post was made on September 9th 2005 and the less-than-exciting 10,000th post was made on June 15th 2006. 10,000 posts made in 279 days gives an average of 36 posts per day (the old site averaged only 23 posts per day).

Top 5 posters

Of course the forums are only useful if people post and unfortunately we still have more lurkers than posters. Here are the top 5 people who aren’t afraid to post (although if I’m honest I have sometimes wished they hadn’t Emoticon ):

  1. Morris - 2,346 posts (including several hundred posts saying “it’s a bit quiet here” Emoticon )

  2. david2000 - 1,706 posts

  3. Mark Twain - 1,105 posts

  4. bulldozer - 907 posts

  5. dc2000 - 633 posts

Most popular topic

It seems that most members are addicted to trading the FTSE as 8 out of the top 10 topics are FTSE related. The most popular topic so far is FTSE Trading [September - December], a monster topic containing 1,918 posts discussing 4 months of FTSE trading.

Who knows? Maybe this will tempt some of our lurkers to contribute to the forums and then we’ll hit 15,000 posts by September!

Rob,

I have just read your post. [very interesting reading]

Rob your quote below:

"Who knows? Maybe this will tempt some of our lurkers to contribute to the forums and then we’ll hit 15,000 posts by September!"

Do you realize that perhaps the GREAT majority of the lukers are monkeys/donkeys from T2W and they are lurking at this forum for good tips/advice/sense/trades etc. Do you/we really need them here?? Just take a quick look at their derivatives section its been DEAD this century and also for the most part of last century. not joking!! CLICK > Link Have a look at this threads there "How To Make Gains From Options" & "The Options edge (Writing Vs Buying)"

The admin there are the bigest MONKEYS of all!! they delete posts without permission, BAN the best traders/posters who have experience that give and tips /advice/sense/trades etc and keep all the DONKEYS/paper traders/ foul mouths etc insted.

If you can open a section on your forum whereby ONLY the real members can get access to [and not those bums/monkeys/lurkers from T2W] perhaps we will get more posts and trades showing? just an idea.

I'll keep my thoughts about t2w to myself Emoticon but it would be impossible to stop t2w members from visiting the site, nor would I want to: I live in hope that not all t2w members are monkeys!

The good news is that many of the real nutcases that post regularly there have thankfully never become TT regulars!

I will be making a change later in the year that will require people to register and login before reading the forums - maybe that'll make a difference to who lurks and who doesn't.

Rob,

I totally agree wiv your comments!!

What about putting a section where only the TRUE members can post [special lounge area] and that CANNOT be viewed by the T2W lurkers? Sometimes i have something to share wiv members and dont want those MONKEYS/DONKEYS to benefit from.

And YES! thank GOD they didn't come over here.

I'm a lurker/ monkey/ donkey, who's never heard of T2w. But my knowledge is limited on trading, so tend not to post. You guys all seem like Professional traders, and alot of the time it seems very Inappropriate to make posts.

Hello Andy,

Forget T2W!!! www.trade2win.com

Click>> Link and visit just 2 threads "Options edge [writing v buying]" and "how to make gains from option trading" this will give you some idea what monkey breed their from . LOL

They have over 51,000 members and NOT ONE member has posted a derivative trade this century. [losing or winning trade] or in the last TWO YEARS! LOL And the biggest MONKEYS there at T2W are the people that run it! [moderators] LOL

If you want to learn derivative trading? theres only TWO forums worth being a member of and where the members will give good advice. T2W is NOT one of them!

Hi Andy,

I don't think you're alone in feeling too inexperienced (if that's the right word) to post. When we were at the World Money Show and IX Investor last year people kept saying similar things. We are definitely thought of as a more sophisticated site than some of the others - which is nice!

I'm not sure what we can do to encourage newer traders to post on the forum, but I'm not so sure it matters. If they can visit the site and learn from the information that is available (either in the forums, or in the articles and reviews, or maybe even our blogs!) then that is good enough for me Emoticon
